A surprise call
Just as the family settled back into our routine, I received a call from an unknown number. I hesitated, then answered. “Hello?”
A familiar voice responded, “Gareth, it’s me.” My pulse quickened. She wanted to discuss her plans to visit.
The audacity left me momentarily speechless. “I just want to see the kids,” she pleaded. The request hung in the air, sparking a mix of irritation and uncertainty about her true intentions.
